Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. Catholic Center of Concern may provide limited assistance with essential utilities such as electricity, water, or gas for eligible households facing disconnection.

Assistance depends on available funding and individual circumstances and is not guaranteed.

  • All requests begin through our intake process.

Please call 256-963-9355 Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m. to start your request. We ask that you call before visiting our office. Our team will guide you through next steps and let you know what documentation is required.

  • If your request moves forward, you may be asked to submit:

    • A current utility bill showing the balance

    • Disconnect notice (if applicable)

    • Photo ID

    • Proof of income

    • Account number and service address

Additional documentation may be required depending on your situation.

  • If approved, payments are made directly to the utility company, not to the individual requesting assistance.

We are typically able to assist with a portion of the balance rather than the full amount owed.

  • If your utilities have already been disconnected, please still contact us as soon as possible. While assistance is not guaranteed, we will review your situation and determine whether support may be available.

If we are unable to assist, we will do our best to provide referrals to other local community resources.
